Medieval Art

32 jigsaw puzzles

Metal sacred objects, ivory carvings, stone heads, tapestries and coins from medieval Europe. Many works pack a whole story into something the size of a palm, like a cross pendant that held a saint's relics or an ivory diptych carved with scenes of the Passion. This is art from before perspective took hold, so figures are arranged flat; holiness is expressed instead through the shine of the materials themselves, such as gold and gems.
